weeping jesus on the cross, what a pain in the arss! .....finally in, though..... but i forgot to put the covers over the computer ports ....i'm gonna drink a few beers and see if i can do it tomorrow without dismantling the entire electrical caddy
Just did my 08 FXDC \\;Sunday. Was done in about an hour. I read allot of info regarding install here on the forum. Made it pretty straight forward. I did what many on here have done. I did not mount the PC under the ECM.
 \\;
I wanted easier access to the PC and mounted it on the back side of the battery. Actually fits just perfect and will not move or rattle around. Can be taken out without tearing everything apart. Bike sure runs much better.
yeah my alarm is mounted under the stock ecm, so i did a little modding and mounted the PCIII flat under the seat, with a thumb screw holding the seat now, getting to the PCIII is a piece of cake, just lift the seat and plug in[8D]
you guys got any pictures? ....i did mine like the directions stated and i'm not so sure about it just sitting under the ECM like that.... it seems like it would really rattle around ...i mean, i was only able to get one strip of velcro in there and i'm not too confident about it all
I had a little trouble[:@] sticking it under the seat on my FB, but its snug and isn't going anywhere. \\; I did stick the port toward the back of the bike in case I need to hook it up to the computer, but Im still not sure that I could get to it. \\; It was worth me doing and not paying the stealership to do it, the pipes and the air cleaner. \\; Im not a \\;wrench, \\;but I am glad I did that stuff myself.
 \\;
I would like to see pics \\;of the PCIII sitting directly under the seat for easy access (to where you just lift the seat and its right there). \\; \\;
 \\;
 \\;
I had mine done in about 30 minutes or so. \\; I too pitched the directions and put it under the seat. \\; I didn't mount it to anything because it is pretty snug in there \\;but I'm gonna check tonight and see if I can mount it to the back of the battery like others have done.
okay....after some retrospection and 3 beers after work today, i thought i'd go look at things again
here's the deal.... first, don't try to install the PC3 in your dyna with limited light prompting you to hold a small flashlight in your mouth that one- brings about a serious lack in peripheral reference when working in such a clustered area...two-brings about a tremendous amount of drool that prompts you to not only suck it back in (instinctual) but causes you to suck on the butt end of the flashlight as well... and three- if it's humid out, there might be mosquitos buzzing around your face and biting your hands
all this brought forth this thread..... after pondering these details that were once sort of subliminal, but eventually came to the frontal lobe of my intellect and reason, i decided to go outside and tackle this job again....
i removed the PC3 from under the ECM, removed the wires bunched up under the seat and relocated those under the rear of the frame.... slid the PC3 behind the battery cage, diagonally, and voila!.... easy! ....very accessible!
