i want to get the screamin eagle intake setup the one that comes on the screamin eagle dyna. \\;what about the exposed filter element? it comes with the rain sock cover too $300 for the kit. also thinking of a hypercharger but i think you have to drill the intake manifold?
Well not sure on Harleys but from years of running K&\\;N filters on 4 wheelers with no lid on the airbox I can say the outerwears covers do a good job. I wouldnt worry about \\;a little \\;rain and a little water on the road but wouldnt want to be out in a down pour with it.
I believe when I bought the HyperCharger for my 06 SB, I was able to buy a 'adapter plate' which negated the need to drill the manifold.
IIRC, it went between the manifold and the HyperCharger.
I'll have to check ,as I went into a different direction, and never put it on my bike.
I run the rain sock on mine all the time. The bike is running a little lean and the rain sock helps richen it up a bit. Not a problem either way.
 \\;
Just out of curiosity, how did the rain sock make you bike run "richer?" \\; I maybe thinking of this the wrong way but wouldnt it run more lean? \\; Sorry dont mean to hijack the thread, just curious.
Bought the SE air intake in San Antonio for a little more than 300.00$ Installed it myself in a little over an hour. Installed a poiwer commander pcIII reampped it &\\; dyno it. was told to run the sock in the rain. If you don't run the sock in the rain could do damage to the engine if it sucked water. don't want to risk it.
