I got something for the EPA its my middle finger! They truly are something else with all this BS about bikes. Bikes have almost no emmissions to begin with it really says alot about how they are all about job security and not at all about common sense! I heard that one 18 wheeler produces more harmfull emmissions than 200 hundred bikes or some astronomicle number like that. Its unbelievable how the man has to try and take the fun out of anything especially when it comes to off road vehicle use here in NY.
yes the EPA is a bunch of tree hugging homo's who want money. I read in some mag that they are thinking of lettings us bikers opt to pay a fee to modify the bike. BS I say!
There has to be more to this than what we already know. We know how closely regulated new cars and trucks are but look at all the cool stuff you can do to them for more power and still be emissions legal. You can change the whole exhaust except the cats, which are fairly free flowing nowadays. You can add superchargers, intakes, bigger throttle bodies, air cleaners, cams, pulleys, aluminum heads, etc, etc. The aftermarket is flourishing under the strict OBDII laws. Most of this stuff is even CARB certified!
I don't think this is accurate. Not trying to defend the EPA or anything (fugg'em), but, I believe the exact opposite is true. A bike can emit more "stuff" than an SUV.
It may be true that our bikes emits more pollutants than an SUV, however, most of our bikes are used as a recreational vehicle on a limited bases. Cars, SUVs and Trucks are used daily commuting from work, schools and transporting goods to and from businesses etc. Therefore, the amount of pollutants that a motorcycle emits in a week, month or a year is much less, than the average car emits during that same period because many more miles are traveled. I put approximately 3k to 4k miles on my bike a year. My car is in the neighbor hood of 20K and our SUV is 12K miles per year. Another fact is our SUV gets 11-15 MPG and the HD gets 40 to 50 MPG with an 88-ci engine. I cannot understand why the EPA is focusing so hard on motorcycles now, maybe itâs because they have pushed car manufactures as far as they can.

Thats just your Government telling you what to do instead of working for you as your elected servant. Government growing like a cancer. Lets create new jobs by creating another government agency to meddle in the small mans affairs. It'll make the unemployment numbers look good and help control the masses.
Believe it or not it is true. The regs have been on the books for years just not enforced. The buzz is that individual states are going to start enforcing them. It depends on where you live.
