Voiding warranty???
If I add slip ons and then a DFO or power commander, will it void my warranty????? Don't know much about either except that if I invest in slip ons and then need the remap, I might be cheaper just to add something for the long run. I will probably add different AC in time and then who knows what else. Confused Mako

You need to talk to your Dealer. I bought mine and it already had Screamin Eagle pipes (not slip ons). I didn't realize it had a Power Commander on it until I pulled the seat off one day. The Power Commander is not a factory part and can be warranty voiding...depending on your dealer. If they install it I would stay on good terms with them. I talked to the service dept. where I bought my bike and they basically told me they would handle everything but I did not get anything in writing. So the decision is yours.
That's a great idea to have all that info on the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 stickied in the General discussion forum. There is so much misinformation and old wives tales going around about aftermarket parts, modifications and warranties. Dealers seem to be the worst about perpetuating this myth.
Any dealer can choose to or not to install aftermarket parts, I assume it's strictly their choice. However, they cannot void your manufacturers warranty simply because aftermarket parts are present. They have to prove that the failure was directly caused by the aftermarket part or modification.
Everybody needs to read up on this!

if your worried about warranty issues, then do this.dont get rid of your stock pipes, when u get your new pipes.and if you have any problems with your bike.then put stock ones on and then have the work done .then put the new ones back on.doesnt take long at all to change out.i had to change out 3 times with my 02 lowrider.and never had a problem with the stealers
No matter what a dealer says, by FEDERAL LAW, a warranty cannot be voided for adding after market parts. A manufacturer has to prove the parts actually caused a failure.
Can't say an exhaust caused a transmission, primary, etc failure.
Go ahead and ad your parts. H-d is not in the business of voiding warranties. Harley corporation is who honors warranties, not the individual dealer.

And By Federal Law you can not Alter you Bike's intake, exhaust, or anything that effects your bike's emisions. That would void the Bikes EPA certification. $10,000 doller per day fine, for everyday you operate the bike on public roads. Getting your bike recertified at your expense is around $30,000. The laws effect all Motorcycle back to 1979. Enforcement ramp up started in the fall of 2005. Be aware this summer there will be random roadside testing with exhaust sniffers. All emissions data for your bike will be just a click away. Read up ! Big Brother needs money. Going after all Bikers , Motorcycle Dealers, and the aftermarket, is just a quick way for Big Brother to make a Buck. They don't think about the Tax revenues the Aftermarket brings in. If you do not believe this Just check with the Motorcycle Riders Foundation. This is no joke. The EPA means Business.
