You can set the stock shocks anywhere between 1, 2, and 3 notches on the bottom chrome housing. \\; \\;The lowest being the softest and \\;vice versa. \\; I still bottomed out occaisionally on the stiffest setting, so I bought a set of Progressive 412's the same length as the stock shocks which have 5 ajustable settings as opposed to the stock 3. \\; On setting 3 it seems a lot better now, and still got 2 in reserve.
Gaffy, If you only have three positions you got ripped. My Stock shocks and these stock StreetBob Shocks both have 5 positions for adjustments. I keep mine on three, right in the middle, I will bottom out if its a large bump.
Hmmmmm......now you've got me confused. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Going out to the garage to dig out the stock shocks they took off to count \\;\\\\\\;the notches again!
 \\;
OK you are absolutely right - that'll teach me for listening to my STEALER - just bought a pair of Progressive shocks for nothing unless of course you tell me there are better than the stock shocks? \\; I so really hate it when that happens!
Thanks mate - that's a relief. \\; I am not sure what I would have done tonight to get to sleep otherwise ! \\; Saved Momma a fate worse than death - an awake worried Gaffy needing to relax to get off to sleep!

RE: suspension
How much do you weigh? I'm at 185, and have the shocks on my Fat Bob set at the lowest index. Even w/my NEW wife on the back (she weighs about 100) it rides fine at this setting.
Back in the day, I ran Progressive 412's and front springs on my 78 XS1100 and I rode the crap outta that bike. \\; It handled beautifully. \\; Rest easy that you bought the good stuff. \\;
