just purchased 2008 low rider. It sounds alsmost like a cricket when i apply the front brake, is there suppose to be \\;any sound when the front brake is applied. i am a newbie to riding. any help would be great
Yes, there is supposed to be some noise from the front brakes. The sound you are hearing
is the drilled holes in the front rotor that are used for cooling purposes. Automotive rotors
are cooled by fins in a hollow area between the two surfaces \\;of the \\;rotors so you don't hear
any interrupted pressure when you apply the brakes as the friction surfaces are solid. Bike
rotors have that interrupted pressure caused by the cooling holes thus causing the funky
sound.
