I had front end clunk on my Streetbob with only 56 miles on it. Looked on here and found out about the neck washer issue. Took my bike to the dealer and they fixed it along with a fall away check even though there is not a bulletin out on the '08's yet.

Now to the scary part....
 \\;\\\\\\;
While I was standing there I hear a guy talking to the service manager about the same issue on his Deluxe. This was his first bike and he had the clunk since he bought it new. He asked his local dealer about it and they told him it was normal for a Harley?! So he rode it that way for a full riding season. He's had the bike on the road for several months this year and was on his way to Laconia. As he was riding down the road he noticed that the stem cap is moving when he hits the brakes. He pulled into the dealership and the stem nut had actually come loose under the cap. I watched the tech move the entire front end by simply pulling on it!

Harley hasn't issued any kind of recall on this, but if any of you have a buddy that is new to riding or not really that familiar with his bike let him know about this. All it needs is to be ignored a little to long and someone is gonna get killed. Please let your fellow riders know.
If it is an actual Safety issue, HD, or any m/c, auto, etc., manufacturer is required by law to report it to the \\;NHTSA and take corrective action. \\; \\;

"If a safety defect is discovered, the manufacturer must notify NHTSA, as well as vehicle or equipment owners, dealers, and distributors. The manufacturer is then required to remedy the problem at no charge to the owner. NHTSA is responsible for monitoring the manufacturerâs corrective action to ensure successful completion of the recall campaign."
The first time I inspected my fall away on my 07 softail the washer was spun out of the hole that locks it. This was done at the factory. Cause was from the flimsy soft steel that is used. Friction from nut overpowers the ability of the tab to stay in the hole. Retard design.  \\;Mad a new one of better material and used blue loctite on the nut. Dealer would have just put the same garbage back in anyway with the same results. Ron
Think mine started doing it a couple weeks back. Notice it in the parking lot at work. Soundl like the front ends gonna fall off. Gotta get it fixed pronto cause the warranty runs out in July.
