I agree about the road king being much better and safer 2 up, it just wouldn't be possible for quite a while. Even if it was, I have ridden every bike in harley's lineup, and really didn't like the touring bikes. I liked the heritage classic, but after riding the&nbsp\\;streetbob, I didn't even like the heritage, lol. I have a friend with a passenger seat on his bob, so I guess I could try it before I spend the money on my own. I'd rather She get her own bike, since she does know how to ride, but money is an issue right now. I'll try it out and see what happens.
thanks for the replies!&nbsp\\;

Hounds2, if I am not mistaken, the GVW must be split between the two wheels. Then add&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;half the bike weight first&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;then a passengers full weight and&nbsp\\;half of the riders for the rear axil. The balance for the front. Does this make sense or have I got this wrong?

That doesn't make sense to me, I always thought it was just the weight of the bike, plus cargo.&nbsp\\;but I know the rider can weigh a lot more than the passenger, because they're more centered between the front and rear, and more importantly, in FRONT of the rear shocks. Sitting behind the shocks puts more leverage on them and multiplies the amount of force being applied.

Donny, I think the fender will be fine, it's steel. I would try the stock shocks adjusted all the way up on a short ride around the neighborhood. If it bottoms out then I would get the stock height Progessive HD's.
+1 and dont forget to bump up rear tire pressure I think you will wind up buying progressive HD if she rides alot with you

i'm a bit confused.&nbsp\\; everyone says get a roadking if you are going to ride 2 up-they're bigger.&nbsp\\; according to the harley website, they are the same length, the dyna has a larger rear tire. larger frame (by1/4" i believe), the same engine, same seat length and when fitted with bags, windshield, engine guard etc they weigh about the same.&nbsp\\; roughly the same GVR.&nbsp\\;the only difference is air shocks (they can be had by progressive shock co) so,&nbsp\\;how do&nbsp\\;they figure that a roadking is a big bike and a dyna is a small bike. i always find this curious.

&nbsp\\; I was a liitle concerned about the weight thing when I first got my Dyna, between me and my Girl were probably a little over 400 lbs. I cranke the stock shocks preload up all the way and it works fine, any more weight though and I would go with a heavy duty progressive, which btw is a lot cheaper than a Roadking...

Kinda surprising huh? The rear seat is a bit larger. I think they just mean a bigger payment?
