I have an 07 street bob. How much weight can they carry as far as passengers goes? The reason I'm asking, is because I weigh in at about 260 and my girlfriend (though I love her to death) is short and round, weighing about as much as me. She LOVES to ride, and I was thinking of getting a passenger seat and pegs for her. We tried riding together on my sporty, but it just didn't work...bottomed out \\;just sitting there. would the dyna suspension handle it, with the shocks all the way up, or will she bottom them too, and collapse my fender? \\;
I would think at the very least you would want stock height Heavy Duty shocks adjusted all the way up. \\; Most I have had on my bike is about 400 with stock shocks and it was ok.
I had an old honda CB750 that handled it perfect, but I bottom out my dyna on bumps with just me on it. \\;I thought about progressives with heavy duty springs, but really can't come up with the money for those right now. even if I could, can the fender really support that much weight? That alsways seemed weird to me, and I know that there's been some BIG women on the back \\;of harleys. \\;
i weigh about 340 (big boned?) and i have my stock shocks on 3 and have no problem. according to the manual the gvw is about 1100 lbs. \\; the bike dry is about 640...do the math. \\; i think you will be fine. \\; ride away..

I just rode about 600 miles with me, a stealth 270, my girlfriend, about 130 or so, and about 50 pound of luggage and clothes. I figured I was just under or at the GVW. The stock shocks were on the highest setting and I made sure the tires were inflated correctly. Ended up riding part of the blue ridge parkway and a rather twisty road called route 56 out of the mountains here in VA with little trouble. We bottomed out maybe twice and I think I could improve the ride with some progressive shocks, but it is not required. I plan to buy them anyway. \\;
Donny, I think the fender will be fine, it's steel. I would try the stock shocks adjusted all the way up on a short ride around the neighborhood. If it bottoms out then I would get the stock height Progessive HD's.
