your all fkn nuts....I can shift into 6th at 45.....NO NOISE NO RATTLES..I can run it as low as 1500rpm in 6th without any noise.
its a stroker motor ffs designed for high torque and low rpm.....dont believe the harley bs about lugging it...its just about them saving there own *** so they dont have to replace your sub standard crank
 \\;
Gee if I remember correctly the guy who posted has a Harley Davidson motor. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.
Lugging the engine period. \\; You said "give it some gas"...which makes no sense especially if you are in 6th since that is strictly a cruising gear - need to get up and go - drop it into 5th. \\; 6th is for cruising...
One more thing, RPM's aren't gonna mean squat to a new owner on a bobber - no tach. \\; With that said its seat of the pants and a read of the manual. \\; If it sounds like a rock in the engine or trashcan gettin' kicked around then its a pretty good bet you are in a gear to high for the low speed your runnin'. \\; 70+ before hitting 6th is about right...if cruising. \\; Otherwise if you are gunnin' for triple digits and/or top speed keep it in 5th.  \\;
It happens while I’m in fourth as well. \\; In regards to lugging the engine and using my tach, I do not have a tach, and I’m pretty sure my RPM are high enough. \\;
Keep the rpms up. \\;\\\\\\; I run 6th over seventy mph.
 \\;
On a flat piece of road, I can safely do 45mph in 6th with any lugging. I would never suddenly open the throttle or anything, but the motor runs perfectly fine with a light load. If I needed to accelerate or go uphill, I would downshift first.
 \\;
I do miss the tach that was on my Sportster though. Has anyone put a tach on their Bobber? Where did you mount it?

Since you don't have a tach, give us an idea what speed your at in 4th, or 5th gear when you try and twist the wick, and get that noise.

I find at that speed you are going to lug the motor. \\; There is no way I could bump it into 6th doing 45mph flat maybe down hill with no throttle. \\;
