So I picked up some factory Air Shocks off of Ebay for my '00 Low Rider. They ride well but have a loud Squeak when accelerating and over bumps, even small ones. I pulled the shocks to put bearing grease on the hardware. It helped some but not much. The gator isn't hitting the chain guard.
I've run the shocks with 10, 15, 18, 20, & 25lbs of air but that makes no change in the noise.
The shocks did come with plugs in them so oil could not leak out, but I'm not sure what's left in there.
WHAT that is way way to much air!!!! you should be running 5lbs with solo and 7-8lb with loaded up... where they used? did they leak? may not have fluid in them... man i hope you did not puff the seals wiht that much air in there
They were used. Before I installed them I was talking to a HD dealer who rides a Street Glide. He said he runs 20-30 psi in his.
They don't leak oil, the left shock has a small air leak at the valve that I have to fix. It's not too bad, only loses 2-3 psi a week.
I find it strange you run it that low, mine feels harsh at even 10lbs of air. It seems to feel best at 15-18psi, as far as comfort. With 10 psi (and with 20+) my lower back starts to hurt after a half hour.
wow, not at all the charts i got for my air ride... then again i do have the lowering shocks on mine... not sure that matters... i have been running my for almost 3 years that low and it rides like a caddy! love it... hope you get that figured out, have you tried just giving them a shot of WD40? or mybe some graphite powder?
