Went to the dealer today to check out the forward foot controls I wanted and have installed. After reading some discussion here and talking with friends who ride, I was second guessing my forward mount choice. However, after I went to the dealer today and sat on MY bike, which is almost done except for the AC insert, I came away convinced more than ever that the forward mounts are for me. Kinda makes me think that you have to stay with your gut and first instinct, cause what is comfortable for someone may not be for you. Just seeing my bike there was an incredible high, as I'm a first timer. Only thing that is left is for a few cosmetics, namely front and rear nut axles, gear shifter linkage, new mirrors to match the risers I have since I went with the low rider bars instead of the apes, some headbolt and rocker box nuts....probably in the classic chrome style. Can't wait to take the bike home and start riding, just seeing it and sitting on it had my adrenaline and heart pumping! Will post pics when I get it. Until then I'm riding in my mind! I'll update the mods when I have the bike and post the pics. [8D]
i like the forward controls to, but when you put them on you should think about keeping the stock pegs on it also, it helps on long rides to have more than one place to put your feet. also if you have to jump you cant do it with forward controls.
05fxdi....all the parts I am changing off will be kept in a nice brown box. If I am going to make a long run, which will be in the distant future, I'll put 'em on to have another place to move my legs. Can't wait to get the bike and show you folks the pics, get your thoughts! Called the dealer back when I got home today and ordered the gear shift linkage piece, slotted with bar and shield logo. Counting down the days till April.

I tried that but everytime I started off my big ole kankle would hit. So off they went. Now I have put the rear pegs down and ride for a few if I need to.
i agree on long rides u need more than 1 foot position, but mid footpegs r 2 close 2 fwd cntls.if gonna ride 2up just use rear pegs and swap position when knees start 2 ache.thats what me and my mates do and works a treat.
