My FXDI clunks also, but it does it when I hit bumps in the road... when I mentioned it to the dealer, his response was that it's normal... I'm taking it in Tuesday to have him make my bike abnormal( I don't want to here clunking noises going down the road)...
I posted a thread sometime ago concerning my 06 Wide Glide making clunking nose in the front end. The dealer disassembled the front end and found the stem-nut loose, they re-assembled the triple tree to specification and performed the fall away inspection process. The clunking is still there! The longer you ride the bike the more frequent it happens. After a 10 mile ride I can roll my bike back and forth apply the front brake and by-standers can hear the noise coming from the front brake area. My bike makes the noise in both directions. I don't know what the answer is, but this condition is very irritating.
My bob does it too. It's usually the first time that I apply the brakes that day. I'll hit the brakes at the first stop sign out of my neighborhood and I get the clunk. I thought it was the pads hitting the rotor or something like that. Interesting that other people have this anomoly too.
i had the same clunking noise today too when i got home i rolled it back and forth and it did it both ways its comming from the front brake rotor area. i think it is normal if evryone else is doing it also
