master cylinder
I cant get my master cylinder to stop leaking I think the guy tighten it down to much at my 5000 mile check up so what is the trick on the newer bike's 07 super glide ?
There have been several of the master cylinder gaskets replaced under warranty. \\; A lot of the leaks can be solved with proper tightening of the screws and seating of the gasket.
 \\;
Turn the forks to the extreme left. \\; This should put the master cylinder in its levelest position. \\; Make sure you protect the tank (and any other finished surfaces) from fluid drips. \\; Remove the master cylinder top. \\; Wipe off the upper edge of the master cylinder and the gasket. \\; Inspect the gasket for rips or deformities. \\; Replace if you find any defects. \\; Make sure you have the proper level of fluid in the cylinder. \\; Replace the top and gasket back on the cylinder ensuring the edge of the gasket is seated properly over and around the lip on the top edge of the cylinder body. \\; Tighten the screws only enough to evenly compress the gasket between the body and the top. \\; The gasket should not budge in any one area. \\; Do no bury the screws as far as they will thread.
 \\;
Hope this takes care of your problem.

Hi John do you mean bulge or budge? so just barley snug them to the point that they dont compress the gasket at all ?

Sorry, thinking one thing, typing another. \\; Meant bulge. \\; The gasket only needs to be evenly and lightly compressed, not fully compressed.
