Thought I fixed this, but still getting some brake fluid leaking around one of the screws. I replaced the gasket and torqued it down good. I was careful not to pinch the gasket or tighten too much.
Any suggestions?
This didn't start until last week when I removed my master cylinder to pull the wires out of my bars. I turn the master cylinder up side down for several minutes. I have replaced the gasket since then
If the gasket is seated correctly, and you have it tightned enough and not too much...the only thing I can think of, is maybe too much fluid in the reservoir itself??
Got it figured out. It wasn't actually leaking after I replaced the gasket. There was residual brake fluid up under the lip of the gasket that was running down the outside of the master cylinder. I took a tiny flat head screw driver wrapped in painters tape (so not to tear the gasket or scratch the master cylinder) and pushed a piece of cloth up under the lip of the gasket and dried all the residual brake fluid up. All is dry now.
I went back out and there was some fluid pooling around one of the screws. So I took it back off, dried all the fluid out of the hole and lowered the fluid level by about 1/16". Hopefully this takes care of any more seeping.
