Default Tie Down questions

Looking for tips and techniques to tie my bike down in the back of my truck.&nbsp\\; I'm planning to load the bike straight in the center of the bed on a 3/4 inch sheet of plywood that will have a harbor freight locking wheel chock mounted to it at the front.&nbsp\\; I want to tie the bike down as if there is no chock.&nbsp\\; My questions are:
&nbsp\\;
What are the best points at the front and rear of the bike to attach the straps to?
&nbsp\\;
Do I really need padded straps or is that overkill?
&nbsp\\;
Do I haul the bike in gear or in neutral?&nbsp\\; If in gear, what gear is best?

Haul it in neutral.
&nbsp\\;
I dont think you need padded straps but I would get the kind that puts the hook away from the bike.

Four straps in total
Two straps in the front / two straps in the rear
Strap on the right &amp\\; left side of the base of your handlebars - Make sure you do not strap over the cables or wires
Strap the rear on each side of the swing arm or at the base of the shocks
YES YOUR BIKE SHOULD BE IN 1ST GEAR!
Make sure you have a wide ramp that levels off at the top
Good luck!

2 in front, around the bottom of the trees.&nbsp\\; 2 in rear around the shocks, upper or lower.&nbsp\\; I leave mine in N.

I hear ya Donny.&nbsp\\; I actually had to type my entire post twice because of the same problem.
&nbsp\\;
Okay guys, thanks for the responses.&nbsp\\; There seems to be some differences on the strap points.&nbsp\\; Maybe it doesn't matter that much.&nbsp\\; But, I forgot to ask how much, if any, I should compress the front end when I strap it down - don't want to blow a seal.

Yeh, actually I did.&nbsp\\; I guess I can't think of good words or phrases to search on.&nbsp\\; Found some stuff just now using google though.&nbsp\\; I'm still curious about how much I should compress the front and/or rear end though - anyone?

Heres how I do it,I don't attach to the bars and I only compress the forks about halfway.
