'06 FXDI w/relocated ignition switch
The weather was finally mild enough for me to liberate my Superglide from the dealer yesterday, she's been there since November for winter storage. I took the long way home, stretching the normal 30km trip to over 100km - it felt GREAT to be back on my Harley again!
I had a few mods done over the winter, including the installation of colour matched hardbags, nostalgic barrel-style handlebar grips and the relocation of the ignition switch. I bought a Softail style switch (the same one used on the 35th edition Superglide) and made my own bracket for it. The wiring harness was unhooked from the stock switch on the steering head and extended to plug into the new switch, while the horn was relocated to a bracket just ahead of the front exhaust header. This new ign switch means I can carry the keys in my pocket on the remote alarm key fob, instead of having to keep the key and fob seperate (because of the stock location, the key fob was beating itself to death against the frame). I can also shut the bike off without having to lean across the tank like I'm posing for a photo shoot.
Anyway, here's a couple pics...
