Ignition switch relocation, '06 FXDI
Ok, so... the stock ignition switch location on the '06 Dynas sucks out loud and I decided to do something about it. I got the inspiration from the Softail style switch and custom mount bracket as seen on the bottom right of pg 267 in the latest J&P Cycles catalogue. I made mine from a chunk of 1" X 3" 6061 aluminum bar stock, milled down to 3/4" thick and shaped to follow the contours of the gas tank. The horn will be relocated to just under the steering neck, as the new ignition switch is mounted where it normally sits. The rear of the bracket has been recessed to sink the switch below the surface and a stainless steel lid covers the hole once everything is in place. The Dyna Wide Glide ignition switch (keyed to my bike) I ordered hasn't arrived yet, so for now you'll have to imagine there's one in place. Will post updated pics once everything is complete.
Now I can use the stock switch as a fork lock and keep the key in my pocket, instead of having it beat itself to death on the frame. [sm=smiley20.gif]
