the 07 has the 96 engine the 06 the 88... I would get the 07 and see if you can get as much as another grand or two off...
Also the bikes condition needs to come into play here... you don't want a bike that was stored outside and has rusted spoke nipples, bolts....etc..
if the 07 is in bad shape and the 06 is in pristine shape that would guide my decision even more than the different milage and engine size..
I agree with Fatbob, for not much more you can have a brand new bike that you can make into all your own from the start, instead of remodding someone elses.
Get the '07 -- '08s had the integrated risers with the top triple tree (bad idea) and '09s just plain suck! Besides, the '07 may still have some warranty left. At 800 miles it's barely broken in. By far the best year for a Street Bob IMHO, but do negotiate as new '09s list for $12995, and don't buy into all that crap about the extras -- no one ever gets their money back on those!
Went and looked at both today. The '06 was in emaculate condition. Offered $11k on it and he countered at $11.5 and that's where we stand right now. The '07 was in good shape as well. It had a few tiny scratches on it where the owner didn't get the kickstand all the way down and it fell. Offered $11k for his as well and they countered at $12.5k. Both said they'd take it to the dealership to get serviced as well. You guys might think I'm crazy, but right now I'm leaning more towards the '06 because it already has everything on there that I want and because the guy was very particular about his bike. I'm really going to try to get him down to $11k, though...which is still a little over NADA.
Aare you buying a bike to enjoy the haggle or do you want the bike to ride? Forget about what NADA says. The guy probably has a helluva lot more in it than that, take the price and start riding.
