Flat tire!!! Need help quick.
My rear tire ate a huge wood screw last night. My bike is my only set of wheels for work cause the wife takes our jeep to work on a different shift, so I gotta get it fixed quick. I need a definate answer on wether or not a metzeler 170/60vr-17 will work on a street bob rear wheel. I searched and came up with a LOT of indefinate answers. Will there be a problem with a radial tire on the rear? I believe the front tire is biased. I will probably swap the front tire for a matching metz, but not for a while.
I got the info below off google....sorry no definate answer but...

Bias and radial tires have significantly different dynamic properties. They deflect differently, create different cornering forces, have different damping characteristics, as well as other differences. In order for radial tires to be introduced into the two-wheel market, it was necessary to change certain characteristics of the motorcycle. The introduction of the radial tire led to such things as modified frames, new steering geometries and suspensions. Therefore, it is recommended that a motorcycle be used with the type of tire construction that it came with originally. If a change is to be made, then it should only be done if the motorcycle or tire manufacturer has approved the change. Above all, do not mix bias ply and radial tires on the same motorcycle unless it is with the approval of the motorcycle or tire manufacturer.

I have been told by a shop and all they do is motorcycle tires if thats worth anything. That you can run a radial on the rear along with a bias front but you cant use a bias rear along with a radial front. There have been several members of the brd that have used the 10 /17 inch metzler
I rode my bike for a couple of weeks with a radial front and a S.E. 180 on the rear. If anything the handling was better than with the Dunlops. Haven't tried it with a radial rear and bias front.
I just installed the Metzeler 880 marathon 170/60/17 radial on the rear and the 880 marathon 100/90/19 on the front and took it for a ride and didn't notice anything other than how good it felt to have new tires. Seemed to be fine.
