I have a 2008 Fat Bob. I would like to know if there is any way I could make the stock exhaust louder? I am saving up to buy the V&H Big Radius, but want to do what I can till then. If there is a way, will it void my factory warrenty? Thanks!
you can always take your mufflers that you have right now off and punch out the baffles but you reall don't want to do this now when and eventually your going to get yoru big radius your going to want to get a stage 1 A/C and with that since the new modles run so lean your going to need to get a tuner i personally use the cobra fi2000 great but sorta limited.
there is a video on you tube where a guy drops a pair of washers( as a guide to center ) into a shorty dual and drills a 1/2 inch hole in the plate....he has a decibel meter and they are a bit louder after ..
Drilling your pipes constitutes tampering under the Clean Air Act, thus making you liable for substantial fines. On the other hand, the same is true of those V&H's you're getting, so we won't talk about that (or about my new pipes, for that matter.)
Drilling your pipes would give H-D reason enough to void your warranty. Many dealerships prefer to turn a blind eye -- you're their customer, after all -- but they are under pressure to enforce the H-D rules. Therefore, I have had several people involved with parts and service at different dealerships all say the same thing: hang on to your stock pipes just in case. If you drill them, they are no longer stock.
POS website ate my post, you think by now this **** would work.
Just pull the baffles and take the wadding out, punch a whole in the middle and put them back in, it will sound better. Get a PCIII with a Screaming Eagle back plate and K & N open A/C and you will be rockin, much inproved tone and power and cool running. No one at HD heare has said anything about it. I havew mine opened up now with some old Screaming Eagle shorts, VERY loud. You can get the above from Fuel Moto for around $400 and you will be happy with the sound and performance till you get other pipes. Keep in mind if you open up your pipes to much with a stock motor you will sound good but loose a little performance.
