I just bought a Silverstar bulb this weekend and put it in and it is a pretty big difference from the stocker. A lot brighter and whiter light. If you get one make sure it's a H4ST bulb marked for motorcycle use only like in the pic above. I paid $19.99 for it at Advance Auto.
i just intalled a fatboy/softail headlight on my bob... it is a 7" light, and makes a big difference in lighting and looks. got it off ebay for 30 bucks, and am going to install a sylvania silverstar h6024ST bulb here tonight, that sealed beam bulb was 19.99. the fatboy/softail 7" light bolts right up and uses the stock connector, you have to remove the crimp on ends to get the wires out of the stock headlight housing, and put in new housing and put back in connector. eveything will work just like normal.
also i think you can buy the fatboy/softail housing from j &p pretty reasonable and put any h6024 bulb in it for way less money than any aftermarket HD lamp!
i dont have any pics yet of it, will here soon though, if you want to see some pics just search it out. i think it was kiwi who had done it a year or so back.
here ya go there is a pic the fatboy headlight... also if you search "fatboy headlight dyna" you will see thread asking for pics of different headlight on dyna bikes, plenty of pics and idea there
I went to Autozone and bought the higher intensity version H3 bulb off the rack and it is a lot brighter - about $20.00. It says on the package it is for a motorcycle. If it isn't about $20.00 it isn't the right H3 as there is a lower power version at about half that.
Now that's the ticket, i was looking for something just like it for my ride, I cringe every time I ride at night with the darn stocky that is on it now, If it were not for the inverted driving lights I would be running over all the criiters on the back roads here.
I didn't like to stock light. Looks like a cheap afterthought. I scrapped mine for a flat black aftermarket billet light. Looks a lot better with my blacked out SB.
