Got it done and it works fine. trying to post photo. Connected pink tach signal wire to #3 slot on speedometer plug. Wire had correct terminal on it. Connected orange power lead to vacant spot in fuse box. Kit had 2 amp fuse.
Yep. all MoCo parts. 67206-04 mounting bracket, 68986-04 mini tach, 67523-04 housing. The tach is available in different face styles to match your speedometer. I got everything from Surdyke, and the total was about $200. Connecting the power wire to the fuse box was a PITA, but it worked out well. It took me a while to figure out the speedometer plug, but onc I did, it was an easy connection there.
As an alternate method, you can run all three wires back to the electrical caddy & connect the tach signal wire to the ECU pin three & connect the ground to a caddy bolt.

I have the same bike as you...I had a tacho fitted to pin 3 at the ecm and then fitted a fuelpak. the tacho stopped. i contacted fuelpak...vance and Hines...and they say that they both use the same signal wire and the tacho wont work....
Will it work if i connect to the speedo wire at pin 3....if so what is the colour of the wire at pin 3 that i need to tap into thanks Bob
My mini-tach died last month. I didn't want to go through that again, so I cheated... This is from the MoCo, and it drops right in. No wiring, no nothin'. Kind of expensive, but I love it:
