Default Fat Bob owners....

I gotta ask a few questions. I'm starting to lean more to the Fat Bob now since changes in the '09s messed up a couple of bikes I was looking at. For some reason, I gotta have a black engine. Had one on my low rider, and the silver engine just doesn't do it for me.

So, questions about the dual headlights.
Do they both work for hi and lo beam?
Or just one works on low?
Has anyone thought about changing them out for just one light, and why?
How comfortable are the drag bars with forward controls? (I'm thinking about mid controls and forward highway pegs, and/or, changing out the bars for mini apes).

Finally, will Rinehart slip-ons fit on the stock pipes?

Thanks for your feedback. Right now, it's the sharpest bike H-D makes (my useless opinion of course). I just can't get used to that dual light thing and never been keen on drag bars.

Please give me your thoughts on anything, that you really like or dislike, about your bike.

I will keep the dual lights on mine

The drag bars with forward controls is VERY comfortable. I am 6'3" with a 34 inch inseam. Everyone who has sat on my bike is totally amazed with the drag bars and your riding position with them. It is a very comfortable bike.

I love everything about my bike. I like the looks, feel, and ride. The only thing I wished the bike had was more power, but other then that I love it. I don't think I could of picked out a better bike for myself.

On H-D's website, the 09 Fat Bob appears to have the front turn signals down on the forks. Is that new?

Thanks for your replies so far. I really like the idea that both lights are on at the same time. I think those crotch rockets with one headlight (out of the two) being on looks bad.

Aw, never mind. I was looking at the photo gallery. Obviously, someone customized it.

I love the dual headlamp, I had to ride at night and in the rain for 60+ miles and my neighbors bike could not illuminate that much and I had no problems seeing with my lamp. As for the hadlebars I'm 5'7 and it is comfortable for me. (my Fat Bob had Forward Controls.) I recomend for you to rent one for a few hrs and make up your mind.

I really like my Fat Bob. I am 6' 3 and love the forward controls. As for the bars at first I was going to change them but after getting use to them I would not have anything different. The dual headlights sets it apart from other bikes a little and I like that. I have done a few things to it like change the pipes, filter, and added a race tuner and some cosmetics here and there.

Great handling bike, You wont go wrong with this bike.

I like the dual headlights. They really light up the road when you flip them on high beam. Between it, the sportster, mustang and jeep only the jeep with the fog lights on lights up the road better. The drag bars took a little getting use to but after 7k miles I wouldn't care to change them. I also love the dual brakes and plenty of tread. The start of every trip for me is descending a driveway that rises 150' in 700'. A single disc pulls a bit on a steep descent while rounding a curve, but I don't feel any pull with those dual discs.

The only thing I don't really like is the forward controls, but you can order it with mid controls. I'm 5'9" and don't really have a problem with reaching them. Since I'm sort of the opposite of pigeon toed it awkward for me to get my foot on the brake pedal and get reasonable force on it. When comes to potholes you're along for the ride since you can't stand on forward pegs. In a skid it's faster to shift your weight from leg to leg to maintain balance than shifting your body from side to side. The only nice things with forwards for me is they look good and you don't have mids in the way while walking the bike.

I've seen that picture and I just don't see how that's a FB in any way any more. Might have started out as one once upon a time, but that bike has skinny tires, front and back - where the big meaty rubber is a big feature on the FB, it only has a single disc brake on the front where the FB has dual calipers, rear coil over shocks vs smooth and, of course, the wimpy single headlight replacing the duals.

I'm 6', have forwards and find it a very comfortable bike.
