What on earth did Harley do to the Street Bob for '09? Heat fins all blacked out (no machined edges) on the motor. Bottom end is gray and not black. Chopped rear fender?! Tail light and plate mount leaves a lot to be desired. Man, did they mess with success!
What do you all think about it? All I can say is I'm glad I got an '07. And why can't you get anything but denim paint ('cept for black) these days?
I have to agree....I witheld judgement till I'd seen one in person; which I just did yesterday. I have an '08 and love it (excepte for the integrated riser - stupid) but the '09 is a bit of a mess. The rear fender just doesn't look right...maybe if the suspension was lowered so the fender sits closer to the tire it would look better but I'm not so sure....I hate the limp dick tail-light - they should have gone with the side mount plate and integrated brake light/turn signals like on the nightster. The silver motor and black cylinders looks totally wrong; I think its just the moco cheaping out to save costs there. I do freakin love the black wheels though...I'd like to get a set for my '08. Anyway overall its not a bike I'd buy if I were looking today.........glad I bought mine last year. If I was shopping now I'd get the Fatbob over the new SB.
Saw one over the weekend...glad its not mine! My guess is HD saw they were missing a $$$ opportunity with every one that has been blacking out their Bobs. They probably changed to silver in hopes you will spend money on black swapouts

I have the 07 Street Bob and love the blackend engine with all the trimmings. I have seen the 09 and I think that HD did it self a disservice with the Street Bob look. That backend out engine and casing was one of the characteristic that made that model. Now is looks cheap.
I have not seen one in person yet...agree about the motor and tail light being a visual down grade from the previous models... Least the fatbob still rocks!
I like the changes on the '09. My local dealer had two '08s on the showroom floor, I ordered the 09 after seeing it on the harley website. It would be pretty boring if everyone was riding around on all blacked out harleys. I like seeing different styles, color choices, customizing of bikes, I don't really want to pull in a lot and see 100 of the same (or extremely similar) bikes. I haven't got the bike yet, should get it next week, but i have new bars, exhaust, seat, air cleaner on the way. Too each his own. . . .
Haters. I guess im not as "dark custom" or in other words so called "bad ***" because my motors not black. It does have stop/turn signals like the nighster. As for the tailight its different and doubles as a "tickler" for the women. After seeing a lot of the Jap bikes going to black motors because they wannabe Harleys its time to change something. Im not afraid of change and the pros outweigh the cons for the 09 SB. Nothing is ever going to stay the same for year after year; they always need to change/try new things. Im happy with mine and WSTL you will enjoy yours too. I have Rush exhaust and high flow kit coming this week. I will keep you posted.
