Hello all. Im new to riding and also to this forum. Ive spent some time on a KZ650 that i brought back from the dead, and now I think its time for an upgrade. Everyone ive talked to has told me my first Harley should be a Sporster, but i love the Dyna line to much. I was thinking a Street or Fat Bob. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
My 1st HD was a Sporty and i've since moved to a Street Bob...couldn't have made a better choice. I loved the Sporty, but the Dyna fit me better...at 6 foot and 190 lbs. the Sporty just felt too small..and for riding 2 up, the Dyna is much better. Either Bob would be a great choice....handling on par with the Sporty and a big twin and a bit more weight make long distances much easier.
i'm hear to tell ya a sporty unless your talking about a nightster or one of the sportster low series the sportster has a high center of gravity and is very unforgiving if you make a mistake the dynas oth are better balanced and give you an overall better riding experience, that being said i sometimes miss the old sportie,
i have the stock exhaust on my street bob and its pretty weak my 1200 custom had a stage 1 upgrade with screaming eagle air cleaner and samson street sweeper full exhaust system that thing sounded bad as and just for fun i would gun it through parking garages and see how many car alarms i'd set off
but as far as preference goes tell me how old you are and whats your riding style?have you taken a msf course?
Obviously the Street Bob has the advantage of a lower price, but if you prefer the styling of the Fat Bob it will be worth the price difference in the long run.

+1 .... hard to go wrong with either, but in the end it's going to be a personal decision.
First of all do you have any pics of the KZ650? I would love to see that. I recomend rent both and ride them. I started on a sportster 1200R and loved it. But the Fat Bob is great.
Im not really sure what kinda riding style I have. I have not taken the MSC tho. I do plan on it. Im only 5 foot 5. Its hard to find a bike i really fit on comfortably. Im only 23 so maybe i still have room to grow heh
