I've got about 5600 miles on mine here in kansas city and that included a road trip to the smokie mountains and deals gap and the chilahowee skyway riding their and back and my tires still look almost brand new and i'm about a 1/4 inch from the sides of the rubber from turning at the gap OH DID HAVE TO REPLACE FOOT PEGS HOWEVER DUE TO FOUR FOOT SPARKS COMING FROM THEM AROUND CORNERS!!!!
12000 out of the 1st, 11000 out of the second, just put the 3rd one on at 22000 miles, still running original front tire. I am not easy on tires, I used to get tween 4 and 6 on rear tires regular, if it aint broke dont fix it. Stock tire will let me lean into corners as far as the bike will go till I scrapes, I see no advantage with going with any other tire either because of grip or price. Found tires on sale, front 116, (in a couple weeks or a month) rear 173, best price in the metromess.
How many miles are you getting out of 180 rear tire ?
I just replaced my tires on my 08 FXDF, got about 7,500 on them. I probably could have gotten about another 500 miles or so, but after they get down to about 3/16th of inch, I like to get them changed out. Besides, I wanted to get rid of that Dunlop rear and get something a little stickier. I put a set of Avon Venoms on, the rear being a Cobra 180/70R-16 .
The old Dunlop rear just didn't have the traction I wanted, I think there is just too much air in that tread design for a street tire.

i just ordered avons . a cobra 180/70r-16 and the venom mt90hb-16 . i'm under the impression it's ok to run radial on the back and biased on the front . as i really like the way the sizes on the bike handle . i'm just not sure i made the right choice trying to match up the sizes and mixing tires . this is my first harley and first time i've ever had to change out motorcycle tires . the rear lasted 9400 miles and it's almost been 10 months since i bought it .
Wow last time I saw this post was almost 2 years ago! I've had nothing but stock tires and I'm on the third rear tire now.both my previous rears got 10000 miles apiece.
