Just joined up a week ago. great site. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the flush mount gas caps? and also if they are hard to install?
Really easy to install and cleans up the tank nicely. As far as accuracy I'd like to think the German LED flush mount gauge was more accurate than the cheesy stock Japan-made (yes Japan stamped on bottom) analog gauge it replaced. The LEDs are bright and easier to see IMO compared to the stock gauge even in full sun (really bright at night). No idea how someone could get the gas cap "stuck" and need to use a Leatherman...even after wrenching it on with my meathooks its a simple half twist with two fingers and it pops up to unscrew. I noticed they come in black now too.
I've had the LED's on the fuel guage fail due to water intrusion (riding in the rain). Disassembly and electrical contact cleaner got it dried out and working again.
After the same ride I removed the gas cap and it was full of water. Dumped the water out, then tapped it on the ground to get the remaining moisture out and the gas cap assembly came apart. Managed to get it put back together and back in place.
The next time I needed gas I couldn't get the cap to turn and had to pry it open. Using the stock cap for now.
That being said, I really like them and have ordered another set. Installing both the fuel guage and gas cap are pretty simple and straight forward.

When you wash the bike or ride in the rain you will have water in the gas cap. This is normal, HD designed the cap to catch water. It is not going into your gas tank, there are two O-ring seals to prevent this. Simply unscrew the cap, pour the water out and screw the cap back in. I've had zero problems with mine.
