Make 'em redo it. If they refuse, take 'em to small claims court.

I'm with the guy that said you should call them and tell them it was usatisfactory. If they won't fix it then contact the Better Business Bureau, they are excellent at resolution disputes.

Sorry that happened man. I wouldn't touch them until the guy either agrees or disagrees to redo them.

Man, that has to suck. I think I might go back down there and force him to do it right or give you your money back. Take photos og the parts first for future reference.

I do have a worse story. Back in 99 before I moved to sc, I was rebuilding my xs1100 motor because of a major oil leak. The cases were split horizontally so total engine disassembly was necessary to get at that gasket. During the process, I decided to get the pistons, jugs, and valves redone. Made sense right? Well, I drop them off to a very reputable builder, Headmasters in Lodi, NJ. After a few days they call and say stuff is ready. I go down and was only given the heads and jugs back. When I inquired where my pistons were they just gave the classic "deer caught in a headlight" stare. I said "find them. Now." After two hours, they didn't look very far and I told them I wasn't leaving until I had my pistons. They threatened to call the law and said "bring it on." I explained that those pistons were damn near irreplaceable and that the motor was 21 yrs old. It was a 78. He suggested going to a larger bore piston and would take care of the boring. I checked via his pc the price of such a kit. $1100.00 to bump cc's up 100 to 1206. He refused stating it was too much to pay. I argued "Well then you should not have lost my parts". He called the law and they showed up. They ushered me outside where I explained my dilemma. They sympathized and worked out a deal. They, headmaster, gave me $500 to leave peacefully. I went to a local salvage yard where I bought a salvage motor for $135.00. So, the work he had done cost $150.00+$135 for new motor...I walked out of there on the plus side. I did however file a complaint with the BBB anyway because they still sucked.

I say stand your ground with them and make sure you threaten that in the age of electronic...you could ruin their reputation with just a few words posted in the right place. Play hard.

Yeah, I just took them back. I was obviously very polite and didn't bring any drama to it all. I dealt with the owner, and he clearly understood my disappointment. He took everything back and said he'd have them redone first thing in the morning. He apologized and clearly appreciated my dissatisfaction. He was cool about it. He actually seemed quite disappointed at the poor job his subordinate had done.

And 'redrubicon' I was simply venting. Anyone who's been on this forum long enough knows that when someone starts threads like this, that is simply why. So no lecture, please.

Will post an update on the results of the recoat when I get the parts back.

I wonder if they removed the chrome or PCed over it?...I PC many parts for myself and friends...I always bead-blast the chrome first and usually get decent results...I work where I have access to ovens ranging from 350 to 1700f but gloss is my only option...thinking of trying the spray-wrinkle black...anyone used this?

well, i noticed where they'd missed with the powder around the edge of one of the shock covers there was some copper showing... so i'm guessing that's an indication of a bead-blast, for sure
