Great story. I never forgot the first Harley-Davidson I had. It was a used 71 Sportster. After a Honda 350 which was my first bike bought from a friend, I bought a used Kaw 500 when I was in the ARMY stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga. A friend I would ride with had a big Harley cruiser, don't remember what kind, and we used to go riding. I did love the quickness of the Kaw. While home on leave, a future boss was selling his Sportster and after riding it I had to have it. I borrowed the money and it was mine! I never forgot the feel of the open road and the rumble of the straight pipes. After years away from riding I went back to a job I used to work at years ago and friends who where still there were riding Harleys. One had a Low Rider, one had a Super Glide and 4 have Road Kings. It was more than I could stand and the rest is history. After shaking off the rust and taking a motorcycle safety course, I am also legal!
The area where I live now has so many destinations, short and long, to ride to, events going on all the time. Its like a dream come true.
welcome to the family. That's exactly what it is...family.
I also ride with both Harley riders and metrics. Don't really care what you ride, it is after all, all about the ride. Then again, the ride doesn't get any better than on a Harley.
The big question is .... when will you get your second one?

Be sure to face in the general direction of Milwalkee, one hand on your heart, the other hand clutching your wallet and say the prayer of the iron hog.
I'm so like you in that I've riddin (shall i say) metric for years, wondering what the big deal was, why pay more for a Harley? When you know this 1 thing, you'll never be the same... or ride anything else........................... Welcome to the Familly
You are killing me.......mine is sitting in the garage and it's 28 degrees out.....today the high was 39 and Saturday it's gonna rain and maybe even snow.
