Know what you mean about now understanding what they say about Harley's alright! But have to agree with what other's have mentioned here on this post. Enjoying thr ride, is not a gift reserved for only rider's of a certain brand of machine. And I've had just as much fun trying to keep up with a guy I'd just met at the last gas stop, riding a japanese crotch rocket, that knew the local roads, as I've had riding with HD rider's of all different stripes. That dude on the rocket could really fly through those twisty winding Idaho back roads! And I had my plate full just hoping to keep his tail in sight? What a blast though, knowing after that ride, the FXDL was up to the task. And I think my new riding buddy gained a little bit of, new found respect, for the Harley label, after that one ride too?
Then there's the groups of HD riders one just naturally hooks up with on your longer cross country trips. Some of them are the cruiser types, choosing to leisurely take their time in getting to their destinations. And seeming not to care how long it takes to get there? As opposed to the next group that's seemingly more hell bent on beating the clock than enjoying the ride? And it's just a matter of where your own heads at, as to which types of riders one cares to share ther road with on any particular day, I suppose? Me? I usually gravitate towards the hell bent for leather types, sooner or later. As the cruisers generally seem a bit too laid back for me personally? And I like to use the extra pony's I've got under the hood so to speak. But all groups and types deserve their own places equally, on the roads I travel! And I'm just grateful their all out there to help me enjoy those magic filled days of living along those long wide open old roads.
