got my bike back... finally. the charging problem was the stator. after filling up yesterday I reset the trip odometer, and rode to work (about 4.5 miles)when I got there the trip odometer was reading 158 miles. after I got home, it was up to 230. what the heck could cause this? the speedo works like it should. any ideas?
weird... you sure your not sleep riding your bike, sounds kinda dangerous to me, you may wanna get that looked at
but i dont know what the cause is... what years your bike, still got warranty??? i bet it has something to do with the electrical system as you had a problem with charging the battery?!?!
With the lack of rear suspension, and non-existant seat padding
I seriously doubt I could've ridden it in my sleep... lol. I don't doubt it is an electrical issue, I still have the extended warranty, but was hoping to actually be able to ride it for more than a week between shop visits. BTW, its an 03

Reason: forgot to include year
Pull your seat and start checking your battery cables. If you have a mutimeter fire up the bike and check the voltage at the battery. I suppose it would be too much for a shop knowing they are repairing a charging system component to charge the battery while in work on the bike or even test the whole system after component replacement. The repair order probably said "remove and replace stator" did you see a comment about testing anything after the repair? That would be customer service. I've been down that road.
