Anyone have any advice as to what tires are good on an 05 Wide Glide? My stockers were ok and I got 9,000 miles out of them. funny thing though, the front one wore out 1st! I ahave always replaced the rear tire twice and then the front on any other bike I owned. I guess the skinny 21" tire wears faster or something. Anyways, any advice on prefered tires? I called the stealer and got scared when they quoted me about $500 for the pair installed!
check the evo classic forum. A lot of opinions on dunlops and metzlers . I just put on a michelin commander yesturday. I'll let you know how it does. Check jpcycles.com for tires
I reccommend metzler me880's---I have put them on 100's of bikes and seen good mileage from them on customers bikes and my bikes. I got around 9500 miles on my last me880 rear tire, I guess it all depends on your riding too.......I am currently trying MICHELIN commanders as we speek but dont know much about them aside that they track well on grooved pavement surfaces and handle well in the rain! Good luck with your tire choices.

So you haven't had any customer complaints with the 880's cupping? A guy at work put them on his wing and those tires cupped really bad. Granted my Wide Glide weighs alot less than his Goldwing does so it may not be an issue for me....
I'm about due for a new set myself. I'm going either the Metzler 880's or Avon Venom. Need to flip a coin cuz I havent heard anything bad about either one...
I've run Dunlop, Avon and Metzeler on my 98 Wide Glide. Wont run another Dunlop. The Avon and Metzeler are comparable. I have an issue with Metzeler's warranty. If you get a defective tire, before the tire shop can replace the tire, THEY must send IT back to Metzeler for inspection and approval, which takes about a MONTH. In the mean time, you're without a ride.
The ME880 on the front of my ride is slightly out of true side-to-side, which creates a minor wobble, which I'm simply riding out until the tire needs to be replaced (which will be early because the wobble will make it wear more quickly). I don't want to be without for a month since my bike is my primary transportation.
I don't know the warranty policy for Avon, but if Avon's policy is more customer friendly, they'll be getting my business from now on.
if you go with Metz, get the 90/90 21 on the front. It makes a hell of a difference on the Wide Glide..
I don't know if Avon has a similar size or not.
I've never read anything about the Metz having a cupping issue. I don't know how much a Wing weighs, but I know lots of people put them on their Ultra's without issue.
