Taking bike to stealer for 1000mile service, going Synthetic of course, Stealer says its going to run me 290$ Seems like highway robbery....Is this typical, the price, or is the stealer trying to rob me? Also what should one expect to pay for a stage 1 filter upgrade and re-map, thinking of the Big Sucker and already have screamin' eagle slip-ons.
that's about what I paid, $300, and I have a document that says you warranty is void if you don't have the 1000 mile done at the stealer, so that being said I can do all my own services AFTER the 1000 mile, thank you very much, warranty's are important to me

I agree 100% I have that same paper that states the 2yr warranty is void if the 1000Mile service is not done by a certified stealer but after that it is free game as long as you document dates and miles of service and save all receipts. Needless to say I will be doing all my own services from then out.
So what should I expect them to charge me for a stage one filter upgrade and re-map??

I did my 1000 at an indy and my 5000 myself. According to my dealer my warranty is still valid. I checked with them before I did the 1000 mile service. They said it would be illegal if they told me I had to do any service with them to keep my warranty valid. Is the document from the dealer or Moco?
HD issues a two year manufacturers warranty on all new bikes. This warranty cannot be voided. The dealer can refuse to cover a repair if they can prove that a service problem was a result of an unqualified service provider (ie... indy did oil change, forgot to put oil in and you blew a motor).
I would find a new dealer to service your bike before i spent a penny with the dealership that told you that load of crap.

It is moco that requires the 1000mi to be done by a certified Harley mechanic, if dealer does oil change forgets to put in oil motor blows up warranty/dealer fixes for free.
