do lifts allow you to get the wheels in the air?
I would think for a home mechanic wrenching on his one bike, the one that you can get the wheels in the air the easiest would be the way to go...
anyways I have the sears red jack and it serves all my purposes....yes, I need to lay on the floor to change oil and check belt tension.
I've been thinking about getting a lift too. My thoughts are to use it as a parking pad as well, that way storage and space wouldnt be an issue.. To get the wheels up, I've seen sissor jack style jacks that work on the lift. So, I figure some variation of a sissor jack should work without a problem, from what I've seen. I've often used the jack to lift my bike, then set the rear of the frame down on a 4x4 to get the jack out of the way. Is the Harbor freight lift good enough quality to trust the bike on at 30"??
Is the Harbor freight lift good enough quality to trust the bike on at 30"??
Well HGM as you know Harbor Freight is Chinese for "made in China." I would say just about 100% of the stuff there is made in China give or take .0004% My brother in law has the lift that he coverted into a huge shop table with the lift underneath. I don't think it will have a problem supporting the Fatbob 30". They also have one with pnuematic cylinders that run off your shop LP air for little more dinero. Looks like I'll get the lift.....Right now though I'm going to lift another beer!
I might have to stop in and check it out, if they have one on the floor..The ones I've been looking at start in the $800 range. No doubt I want one, just a bit leary of the Chinese stuff.. I love my bike, but cant ride it with broken legs either if it were to fail.. Definitly worth checking out..
