What year is your bike? I wonder if our parts will swap. I'd much rather have a carb.

I really hate all the extra bs that goes along with doing any sort of major upgrade. Why do we need pcIII's and XIEDs? We don't. Bikes have been carbed for decades and ran without a hitch. Besides, what's easier than just simply rejetting a carb? Nothing.

anyway, what I'm asking is for the more experienced wrenches to take a look at that link and tell me how accurate it is.

If it's pretty close to how it would be, I wanna try it. Would definitely be a fun experience. Don't tell me about blowing my warranty either. I'm well aware of that.
did you do it yet? How much was it for the brain box?

Would be awesome if it was though.

By definition, a closed loop system makes adjustments on what it's sensors tell it. An open loop system makes adjustments based on assumed settings. A carb system, is an example of an open loop system.

I do believe our EFI is a about half a system though, as I don't think I've ever heard or read about there being any kind of either mass air flow, or pressure sensor in the HD EFI.... kinda goofy actually.

I, for one, having had to mess with carbs for many - many years (over 40 years of riding carb'd bikes) and I can testify that they could be a real pain in the A__ ! I personally thing that EFI is great ! But that's just my opinion !

Changing the EFI to Carb is like taking a Ferrari, pulling the motor and putting a Chevy 350 in it!

I have reserve on my tank and it is good to run out of gas and still know you have a gallon.A new mukini cost about or lest than most uprades with efi and you can work on carb on side of road.I think that it would be better to trade efi and convert it lots of low milage carb bikes around

IMO a carb bike sounds better and it's cheaper and more economical. The KISS rule applies for carb bikes.

Then you would have something that would be reliable and you could get parts for it anywhere!

I'm with all of you carb lovers. These new bikes sound like total ****. Let off the throttle and all you hear are crickets chirping in the background. I'm all for converting to a carb, merely for the simplicity. I'd like to add a set of cams and higher comp pistons but dont wanna have to rely on a tuner and electronics to keep the bike tuned, not to mention the added cost of the tuner, dyno time and needing a laptop in order to make small adjustments. For some reason electronics and reliability don't seem to go hand in hand. I've had too many electrical components blow up for no reason.

Alas, if H-D was gonna make it this complicated and expensive to mess with they should have gone ahead and added watercooling to the TC96. To me, watercooling would be just about as cool on a H-D as EFI is....
