Are you removing the ignition to access the harness plug? If so, FYI, it is possible to remove the plug with a little pulling of the wiring and prying with a screw driver while the ignition is still mounted. This may save you some trouble and some skin on your fingers. Disconnect your battery cable first!

Are you talking about just pulling it through the frame by removing the shield? If so, that WOULD be easier. Let me know if thats what our talking about. Also, you wouldn't happen to now the wire colors? Thanks man

IGN = R/BK

BATT = R

ACC = R/GY

I did remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the neck of the frame to remove the wiring. I also removed the rubber grommet from the right side of the neck. These allowed access to remove the wiring and fish the connector out of the neck.

Any tips on replacing the ignition harness? I've spent several hours fiddling to get it back inside of the neck and staying there. It slides on (but doesn't seem to clip in) and the bike starts. However, when I stuff the other wires back into the neck, I guess the ignition harness slips off and the bike does not start.

Tomorrow my wife will try to stick her tiny hands into the hole to see if she can clip it in.

After I uplugged it from the ignition, I cut the plug off and rewired it to my new ignition where the horn used to be. Did the clips break off when you pulled the plug off?

When I customized my ignition switch, I was worried about being about to plug the harness onto the stock switch once it was removed. I didn't remove it until I was sure the new switch was ready to go.

If you have not removed the retaining ring which holds the switch in the neck, you may want to try that. This will allow you to move the switch around and may ease plugging the harness in. It will also allow you some access from the other side of the switch, opposite the opening under the neck.

Good luck!
