Default Torx vs. Allen vs. ???

I find the torx fasteners that HD uses to be a p.i.t.a. Anyone else? Why don't they just use good old allen fasteners?

They don't seem to strip out as easily as allens do. At least not if you have the right size torx.

I agree with you, a good RIGHT SIZE bit will get the job done. Personally if i even sense a torx screw will not break loose i use my good ol impact driver, typically one good hit with a hammer and the cam action of the impact driver breaks it loose easily.

Yep, the right size if critical. Torx is very unforgiving of the "this size is close enough" syndrome.

And some of the sizes are so close together it's hard to tell if you have the right one or not.
Sometimes it fits pretty good, but then when you strip it out you realize it wasn't the exact right size.
