1.)About how many hours does it take to have a dealer change a rear tire?(I know my stealers price per hour, but they are closed right now)
2.)I seem to have a front axle leak of some sorts(there is some grease splatter) any idea if this is a tuff fix or should be left in the stealers hands
Forgot to ask also is this leak a warenty issue or normal wear and tear?
takes about 20 min to change a tire... you do not have any fluids in your front axel... if you have spatter that is from a bearing gone bad or your front axel being torqued WAY to tight, those spacers in there have prob pinched the hell out of your bearings
I know Joe is good but I don't think he could change my rear tire in 20 minutes. Have to remove the axle covers, right rear peg mount to keep it from hitting the pipes when the shocks are disconnected, disconnect the shocks to drop the swingarm, etc. etc.
Bottom line, it's a simple, repetitive job that you shouldn't let yourself get raped over and pay too much for. But I can't see it happening in 20 minutes. Sorry Joe, had to bust on ya a bit.
A lot of dealers and indy's run tire install specials pretty cheap, now and then, but you have to buy the tire from them.

+1
Local Indy. charged me 1/2 labor to change the rear tire.

Thanks to all
did you have your front wheel off for anything? the axle is supposed to be lubed with either axle grease or anti seize so may be excess there... also did you recently wash the area or heavy rain ridin? ... excess water combined with some anti seize/grease could cause splatter.. anyways take to stealer to check for bearing problems worse case they check it out and nothing is wrong or they could need to replace and may be under warranty.
