If you want a good sound with Baffles , buy a set of Vance & Hines Big Radius, you will love the sound and increase your performance, better then any slip-ons you can buy, around $500.
I have Hooker pipes. The bike had the baffles removed when I bought it. I thought it was too loud and asked the dealer if they had the baffles somewhere. They found them for me and I put them it. The bike has a terrific Harley sound, but isn't uncomfortable to ride any more. It may just be my imagination, but it seems to run better as well. I have the stage one kit and I think a little bit of back pressure seems to be giving me more power. I should Dyno it, just for fun, but that's what it seems like to me.
SE II's sound great...that is until you are in the company of better sounding bikes and then they fade into the relm of mediocre. Not that the other bikes are louder, no, it is a quality of sound. Don't get me wrong, I run SEII's on my current bike and like 'em just fine But they can be improved to level the playing field with simply installing big city baffles for the SEII slip ons. Best of all worlds; Stock appearance, performance and sound.
I have a Wide glide......Dont have FI though. I have had Vans and Hines pipes for four years, took the baffles out and added
torq cones for 20.00 bucks and it sounds alot louder.....and still have back pressure.
I have the V&H
If your looking for a sweet sound, look toward removing the baffels and replacing them with Thunder Monsters. www.Bigcitythunder.com
(good luck)
Leave the baffles in! In the town of West Haven Ct. (The state I live in) I won't even ride down there anymore with my SE II's w/baffles anymore. Because of loud exhaust, lot's of bike cruising by the shore with no baffle exhaust, they now fine 250.00 for any bike found with non-stock exhaust. They are trying to pass a law in that town that a 2 time offender loses his registration.
I know of someone who bought an 05 harley, came with SEII's out the door and recieved a 250.00 fine 2 weeks later. He tryed to explain that the bike was registered in Ct brand new with this exhaust, but was ordered to pay the fine and told to replace the system. With what? he asked. It came this way.
You can get the harley sound with out being obnoxious.
