It's been quite a while back since I installed mine but it was a quick job. I followed the instructions. Removed the front bolt and nut (may have loosened the rear, don't remember) them raised the front of the tank with one hand and installed the lift, bolts and nuts with the other. That was pretty much how I remember doing it.
Not sure about everyone else but when I installed the 3" on my 07 wg, I actually had to drill some new holes in the rear mount to move the tank back about 3/8". When I lifted the front of the tank, it caused the top tree to hit at full lock.
I removed my tank console to see how much vent tube slack I had, and its almost tight. I need to get a longer tube to raise my tank two inches.
This is just a vapor tube right? Gas wont come gushing out when I remove it right?
I never messed with the fuel lines before so I want to know before I cover myself with gas.
Thanks Jackyl for the lift, I can hardly wait to get it on!!!

Correct. I believe I used the left over gasline crossover to extend the vent line. Same i.d.
The only difficult part to putting mine on was going to the mail box and carrying it to the bike, no problems installing it, piece of cake. I hate to sound negative but if you can't install a tank lift you might want to get a Honda, there are several other task that you are going to have to do to your Harley that's way harder than a tank lift.
I'd be the first person to call someone out on a stupid question, but Dope_Man...you're a little out of line on that. Some of us had to make some slight mods to our respective tank lifts. I suppose Jackyl couldn't possibly have tested them on all models.
I never said anything bout stupid, I said that the tank lift is not the most difficult thing that will have to be done to a Harley, and I was not trying to offend anyone either. I can see having to make some minor adjustments, but it is still not that bad of a job. If you took it as me being an A$$, I apologize.
