I installed a 2 inch lift om my wg. I ordered the one from Jackyl, but could not wait, so I made one at work. Oh well now I have an extra. Anyway I had to replace the breather and cross over lines even with just the 2 inch lift. Who knows, maybe the dude who assembled the bike was cuttin lines short that day. No Biggy! Easy install, just dive in and do it. Oh, I did not notice a handling change that some people have stated. I take my windshield off alot so its always changes.

Umm thanks Dope Man, smoke another one!!

Obviously the vent hoses are not the same on every dyna, Mine has absolutely no slack and it was 6:00PM when I tried to do this so I cannot get any hose right now.

I can assure you that It will be mounted tomorrow.

As for the other tasks, I just changed out my own wheels with nothing more than a manual and 2x4s over blocks as a lift. I think I can handle a tank lift. I only posted my problem because I never heard anyone have it before and I thought I was doing something wrong. If you read back before your moronic post you will see the problem was found when I took off my console.

I've had Jackyl's 2" lift for awhile now and I remember it took about 10 minutes to install. Did'nt change any hoses or lines. Love the way it looks. Many people from this forum have gotten them from Jackyl and are very happy with them.

Hey Tide - check the length of your wiring harness also. I had to pull out a little more slack to make room for mine. Didn't have to alter anything else though (like the rear bolt hole). Just make sure you have the lift going in the right way - and not backwards. My ol' man had to call me because he was fighting with his, and it was backwards....

got my lift kit today thanks Gene it looks awesome will get pix up soon as I can....
Also, for the future....
You sent me a 9" vaccum tube...I needed 13.5" ...stock is 12". this is an 05 FXDC
(already had 2' of tube here so no worries for me)

Tide for ease of installation you can take rear bolt out, move the tank back on the frame a couple of inches, then put the lift kit in ... The stock 05 and older wide glide trees afford less room between the tank and the tree than those others out there....(larger area surrounding the neck)
have the crossbar portion of the kit closer to the tank as well.

Here's the deal (as I see it). There are varying lengths of vent line, fuel line, and wiring harness available to play with for this job based on where it is clamped (on the line). Some guys have more slack than others. Mine worked BARELY with a two inch lift. Months later when I took my dash off for another job I saw that my vent line was cracked and separated (no big deal, and easy to replace). I also gained slack when I went into the frame and pulled more wiring harness out. There is no way I would have had room for any more than two inches unless I went in and rerouted or loosened lines, replaced the vent tube, and replaced the crossover tube with a longer one (which I did later to be safe). He may have some short lines to work with and just not be able to get the slack he needs. Worse case, buy some gas line to use for the vent and crossover, and be prepared to pull the dash and tank to see where you can gain some wiring harness length. Good luck! It's worth the effort, and if you ever decide to take the lift off you don't have to do anything with the lines and wiring, it will take the slack back up.

I didn't use Jackyl's lift, only because I had not heard of it last year when I did the job. Sounds like he gives you the vent and crossover you need.

Jackyl's kit did come with a vent tube which I did have to use on my '08 FXDC. Outside of that the only time consuming part was making sure nothing got scratched. I think the gas shifting to the back of the tank changed the handling of the bike ( in a good way).
I've only had Hardtails and this is my first adventure with springs and electric start and this lift makes me feel more in the bike instead of on top. I think anyone contemplating this mod will be pleasantly surprised. ~ Nels
