Oil Cooler

I know this belongs in the Oil forum but there's not much action there, so here goes.

I'm sure the synthetic oils are fine with 260° and 270° but how does the bike handle it? The expansion and contraction after cooling down 200 degrees has to affect something. Are any leaks attributed to this high temperature swings? What oil coolers would you recommend?

I didn't think your bike was supposed to operate that hot...

I think you want it around 220, with 240 being the upper-end of safe operation.

If you're up at 260/270 you're in trouble... but that should never happen unless you're just sitting still...

...unless you have a fan blowing air into the oil-cooler, it isn't going to help (much, it will help a little) unless you're moving...

I think a good tune would do you better all around...

If your temps are 260 - 270 you are running way too hot. I put a Jagg cooler on my RG and really like how it works. It can be in the high 90's and I don't get over 220. Where are you measuring the temp and how?
