I ride an 08 Street Bob. Since day one I have a problem shifing down from 2nd to first. Seems I really have to kick down hard to get her to shift. The dealer can't seem to figure out what the deal is. It only happens when she reall warm., usually after about 30 miels or so.
Anyone have a suggestion or having the same problem?
Second suggestion = Follow the manual and make sure your cable is adjusted to specs
Third suggestion = Make the recommended adjustment under the derby cover according to the manual
Last = Change the fluids in the tranny and primary with the proper synthetic fluids
And very last, Slow down before shifting to first, I had similar problems with mine, don't know what the tech at the dealer did, but when I got it back and tried to shift from second to first, locked up the rear tire until the speed matched the correct speed for the gear.
Has anybody checked your fluid levels? Use your owner's manual as a guide. To check the primary oil level the bike needs to be vertical, not leaning on the jiffy stand. While you are in there do your clutch adjustment with the engine/drivetrain at room temperature. The torque on the derby screws are around 85 INCH pounds.
