Default Cams at local indy

I visited my 'local' (100 miles away) indy on tuesday. Picked up some ISO grips for my new 16" bars. While perusing the shelves of stuff, I found he has a set of SE203 cams used for $150. I inspected them and didn't see any wear at all. He also has a set of the SE250 or 255 cams for $270, also used. Again, I inspected them and saw no wear.

Just out of curiosity, how much "kick' would the 203's give a stock 96"?

I could have gotten the grips cheaper online but he always treats me good when I go in there so I try to throw him patronize his establishment when I can. Would hate to see the guy go under.

By the way, he does have a good selection of used seats, tanks, fenders, etc. Give him a hollar... Hawg Wild cycles, Leesburg Rd. Columbia, SC. Don't know the number.

I don't want to hi-jack your thread, but what is an Indy dealer and how do I find one in my area?

They are bike shops that are not affiliated with HD but work on them. More to the point, not HD dealers. The one I go to likes to stock pile parts. It's a small shop, but he always has something that catches my eye.

As far as finding an indy in your area, use google, your local phonebook, go to the forums that are for your area and ask there, ask riding buddies, go for a ride....

I'm not sure you'll get the results you want with the 203's in a 96. the 255 might be better. Just remember youre putting used cams in your motor. if youre not planning on putting new lifters on top of them, then figure on flat cams in a thousand miles or so.
as I understand it, the 203's are for older twinkies (95BB), and the 255's are for 07 and newer.

Personally, if I was spending the money for all the other stuff you have to do, I'd buy new cams.
