This was the first suggestion I tried and it worked perfectly.
The only difference was, I had my old vent tube laying around from Jackyls tank lift. I put the tube in the clamp, tightened it down, and with a few taps from the hammer, it came right off without damage.

I just whacked mine off using a flathead screwdriver and a hammer.

Then went to the dealer and bought another one.
