Not trying to hijack the forum, but this is kind of related. I have reflectors pulled off and going to get the emblems off tonight. I have the new emblems(47-50) to put on. What are you guys using to lay out the new location of the emblems? What I mean is, what are you using to mark on the tank while making measurements to line everything up? Any help would be much appreciated.

That's a good question. I was wondering myself. Is there a standard procedure for locating them on the tank? I'll have my new emblems by this weekend and will figure it out then.
I didn't make any markings. I eyeballed mine by triangulating between each side's tank cap and the edge of the seat. One shot only for each emblem since I used silicone to mount them. Maybe I got lucky, but, I don't see anything wrong with where mine ended up. Besides, other than yourself, who's really gonna notice if you're a centimeter off this way or that?
I used masking tape to centre line over the old badge , cut each side of the old badge , put a vertical tape and mark where the new badge starts centered, then took the measurement from the start of the old to new , this helps you get the other side ok .
The gas caps give you a good odea , and my badge fitted the contours of the tank , so that helps when you have the centre line from old badge
