I'm with the guys who have a credit cards and cell phones - I really don't want to be wrenching on the side of the road. I have one other invaluable addition to the above and that's my RAC breakdown membership card which will ensure my bike is recovered to my home.

I've narrowed mine down to this
Leatherman, torx and allen sockets, spark plug socket (old habits die hard) 1/2, 9/16, and 3/4 wrenches, small crescent, plug kit and patch kit (CO2).
Keep a 12V air compressor in the saddlebags, never know when you'll need it.
And most of all, Cell phone, Mastercard, Amex and AAA plus.
If the **** hits the fan, I aint standing in the way
