I just bought a new '09 FAT BOB and will be buying a fork bag to carry along a few tools. What tools do you seasoned veterans suggest I carry ?
I'm new to riding but like to be prepared to deal with common mechanical problems. I carry duct tape, a coat hanger, & hammer in the cage but don't want to load the bike down with this stuff. Probably overkill anyway.
I do mostly day trips but planning on a few overnighters before the snow falls.
Thanks guys.....
Not a seasonned veteren but I got a Craftsmen motorcycle tool kit at Sears for 1/2 price. Used a couple of times for other peoples bikes. Remember to pack different size zip ties.
What I did was when I worked on my bike, whatever tools I used then went into my toolbag. I have a full set of socket head torx bits, allen wrenches, dikes, needle-nose, adjustable pliers, and a full range of open end wrenches. I also carry a small supply of zip ties. When you work on your bike and have a toolbag full, try to utilize what you have there so if something happens on the road your already used to what you have at your disposal.
Cruz m/c tool kit, tubeless tire plug kit, leatherman pliers and a 12V air compressor.
A word of caution. If you are planning to put any real weight in the fork bag, make sure it won't come in contact with the front fender when hitting bumps or potholes.
I have a trailer that I pull on long trips with every tool in my garage on it. And I get a service tech to ride with me in a side cart. Comes in real handy.
