Arrow 5k mile service

I am getting everything together to do my 5k service this weekend. Got all my tools and oil and lube to do the oil change, cable lube, and all the remaing visual inspections. I was just looking for any helpful hints or tips you guys might have to offer.

One ? that I did have after reading the service manual was if you really have to go through the whole clutch adjustment process or can you just check the play at the cable. If the play at the cable is good do you still need to go through the whole process or can you just skip it?

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints.

I'd go thru the entire process. It's not really that bad - just need to remove the derby cover, collapse the cable - adjust the clutch end - then adjust the lever end. It's a 15-20 minute job.

Thanks glide. Yeah i was planning on going through the whole process like the service manual states was just wondering if it was needed. I let the stealership do my 1k service and they told me they just check the slack on the cable and did not remove the derby cover. Just wanted to know if I was going to be doing any extra leg work.

LOL yeah that is exactly why I am doing it myself. The stealership is insane. Spent all of 50 bucks on all the supplies needed to do the service. Guess I will have to hunt for some new toys to throw on the bike with all that extra dough

OK regarding the clutch. I did my own 5k this summer and multiple times I was told unless the clutch NEEDED adjusting you don't need to do it. But is lubing the cable something totally seperate? thx

I found this helpful for giving me a visual of what to expect. It's a quick video on how to adjust the clutch pack behind the derby cover (part 1), and how to adjust the cable free play (part 2).

Part 1

Part 2

good videos - shows how easy it is.
personally i disagree with replacing the derby gasket - I've re-used mine 3 times with no problems.

Thanks bry for those videos... I did my 5k a month or so ago and didnt do this as everything was working properly. But seeing how easy it is i cant hurt to adjust it, probably for the best!
